A police officer seriously injured when she was shot while attending a call has been discharged from hospital.

PC Suzanna Hudson, 33, was being treated at Leeds General Infirmary after suffering shotgun wounds in Headingley earlier this month.

West Yorkshire Police said she had now been discharged and would spend Christmas with her family.

James Leslie, 37, of Queenswood Drive, Headingley, will face trial in April charged with attempted murder.

Mr Leslie has also been charged with the attempted murder of PC Hudson's colleague PC Richard Whiteley.

Ch Supt Paul Money, Leeds district commander, said PC Hudson was "in good spirits and looking forward to Christmas at home with her family".

"She will require further hospital treatment as she continues to recover but that will be as an outpatient," he said.

"It is great news that she is now out of hospital and we wish her all the best for her continued recovery."
