George Galloway MP questions eight-month coroner investigation
An MP has called for an "urgent conclusion" of the investigation into a coroner who was suspended in February.
George Galloway, Respect MP for Bradford West, tabled a Commons motion on the suspension of the coroner for West Yorkshire's western district.
The investigation into Dr Peter Straker was to have been finished in 90 days.
The Judicial Conduct Investigations Office (JCIO) said: "The investigation into Peter Straker is ongoing and a decision will be made in due course."
The inquiry was ordered after concern that more than 200 inquests in the city took longer than they should have.
Mr Galloway's motion said it was an "unsatisfactory situation" that a temporary coroner is administering inquests in Bradford.
He said he wanted a decision so "justice can be seen to be done".
Bradford council confirmed the coroner was still suspended. A spokesperson said the council "wanted to see the investigation concluded as soon as possible".
The JCIO supports the Lord Chancellor and the Lord Chief Justice over judicial discipline.
The body took over on 1 October from the Office for Judicial Complaints, which started the investigation.
