Yorkshire Building Society to create 120 Bradford jobs

The Yorkshire Building Society has announced it is to create 120 jobs at its West Yorkshire headquarters.

The posts will all be based at the society's head office in Bradford, which already employs 1,500 people.

Half the new jobs will be with the society's mortgage subsidiary, Accord, while the remaining posts will cover "various activities", the society said.

Corporate development director Andy Caton said the company was pleased to be supporting the local economy.

'Great news'

"We place high importance on the quality of our customer service, and our recruitment of new staff reflects our growing commitment to this priority."

To accommodate its expanded workforce, the society said it was having to lease extra office space in Bradford.

Councillor David Green, Bradford Council's executive member for regeneration and economy, said he welcomed the announcement.

"This is great news for Bradford and reflects the continued growth of one of our highest-profile employers."
