Man seriously hurt in Huddersfield car accident

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 24-year-old man was seriously injured in a crash in West Yorkshire.

The accident happened on the A62 Leeds Road in Deighton, Huddersfield shortly before 0300 BST on Saturday.

Police said an Alfa Romeo left the road near to the junction with Deighton Road. The car collided with a lamppost, a sign and then overturned.

The driver was said to be in a serious condition in hospital with head injuries.
