A man has been charged with the murder of a woman found dead in her home.
The body of 58-year-old Mandy Houghton was discovered on Wednesday in her home in Victory Close, Nelson, where she lived alone, Lancashire Police said.
A post-mortem examination concluded she died of head injuries. Paying tribute, her family said was a "happy soul" who "wouldn't hurt a fly".
Alan Fare, 72, also of Victory Close, is due to appear at Preston Magistrates' Court on Friday.
In a statement, Ms Houghton's family said she was a "much-loved mum, sister and grandma".
