Man charged with murder over Preston street death

A 19-year-old has been charged with murder after a man was found fatally wounded in a street.

The 67-year-old was partially clothed and unconscious when he was found in Hammond Street, Preston, at about 08:30 GMT on New Year's Day.

He had suffered head injuries and died later at Royal Preston Hospital.

Nathan Richardson, of Bury Road, Bolton, is due before magistrates in Preston later. A man, aged 22, has been charged with assisting an offender.

Luke Jenkinson, of De Lacy Street, Preston, is also due to appear at the city's magistrates' court later.

A 17-year-old boy, arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, has been bailed pending further inquiries.
