Plans for a £41m centre at Lancaster University to develop solutions to problems caused by ageing populations have been submitted to the council.

The health innovation centre is to be built next to the university's Bailrigg Campus.

It could create up to 2,000 jobs and inject about £100m into the local economy, the university said.

If approved, work is expected to begin in 2017 with the building opening in 2019.
