Arrests over M61 police pursuit crash in Bolton

Two men have been arrested after a police officer was hurt in a motorway crash while pursuing a car.

The officer's vehicle overturned on the M61 in Bolton as he tried to stop a car suspected of being involved in a hit-and-run in Blackpool on Monday.

The PC was taken to hospital with minor injures and has since been discharged.

The men, aged 35 and 22, both from Ashton-under-Lyne in Greater Manchester, were arrested and bailed until 29 November.

The 35-year-old was held on suspicion of two counts of failing to stop at the scene of an accident, dangerous driving and drink and drug driving.

The 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.
