Man fatally struck by car in Whitestake was 'wonderfully caring'

A pedestrian who died when a car mounted a grass verge and struck him was "wonderfully caring", his family has said.

Nicholas Farrimond, known as Nick, suffered multiple injuries after being hit in Pope Lane, Whitestake, Preston, shortly before 01:00 BST on Monday.

The 35-year-old died at the scene.

His family said: "There is a void in all our lives that will never be filled," adding he was "a kind and most especially funny young man".

A 32-year-old man, from Preston, arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and drink-driving remains in custody.
