Preston driver arrested over pedestrian's crash death

A pedestrian was killed when a car mounted a grass verge and struck him.

Police said a red Peugeot got near a taxi on Pope Lane, Whitestake, Preston then drove up on the verge and hit the victim shortly before 01:00 BST.

A 35-year-old man from Bamber Bridge, suffered multiple injuries and died at the scene, said police.

A 32-year-old man from Preston was later arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and drink-driving.
