Man dies in suspected hit-and-run in Colne

A 69-year-old man has died in a suspected hit-and-run in Lancashire.

Police received a report at about 22:20 BST that the victim had been hit by a Vauxhall Corsa while he was crossing Albert Road.

He suffered serious head injuries and was later pronounced dead at the scene. A car similar to the one in the collision was later found in Colne.

Three men have been arrested and are in custody. Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.

The arrested men include:

  • A 50-year-old man, from Burnley, on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving
  • A 22-year-old man, from Colne, on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop
  • A 23-year-old man, from Nelson, on suspicion of assisting an offender
