A second woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was killed in a "targeted" and "ferocious" attack at her home.

Sadie Hartley, 60, was home alone when she stabbed in Rossendale in Lancashire on Friday.

The mother-of-three was found dead in the hallway of her house in Sunny Bank Road, Helmshore at about 22:40 GMT.

A 55-year-old woman from Chester is in custody. A woman aged 34 continues to be questioned on suspicion of murder.

A post mortem examination confirmed the cause of Ms Hartley's death was multiple stab wounds.

The businesswoman had spoken to a colleague at about 19:30 GMT on Thursday but there was no further contact before she was found dead on Friday.

Police are yet to find a weapon.

Det Supt Paul Withers said: "The exact motive for this horrific murder remains unclear at this time but we are continuing to make steady progress."
