Imitation gun used to threaten police in Preston

A man who "pulled the trigger" when confronting officers was holding an imitation firearm, said police.

Officers were threatened in Preston after they stopped a car while investigating an assault on Tuesday.

Lancashire Police said the officers saw "what appeared to be a handgun", but it did not fire.

A 29-year-old man from St. Helens has been charged with possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of unlawful violence.

He was also possessing an imitation firearm with intent to resist lawful arrest.

He is due to face Preston magistrates later.
