Stabbed man dies a year after Bacup attack

A man who was stabbed more than a year ago has died, police in Lancashire have revealed.

Jamie Mulcahy, 26, suffered a stab wound to the chest following reports of a fight in Yorkshire Street, Bacup on 22 November 2014.

He never regained consciousness and was receiving round-the-clock care before he died in hospital on 5 December.

Police are waiting for the results of a post-mortem examination. In July, two men were jailed over the stabbing.

At Preston Crown Court, Jonathan Wrigley, 35, of Todmorden Road, Bacup, was jailed for 13 years and six months for section 18 wounding and perverting the course of justice.

Curtis Munro, 26, of Queen's Park Road, Heywood was sentenced to 16 months in prison for perverting the course of justice.
