A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a month-old baby suffered a "serious head injury" in Blackpool, police have said.

The child was treated by paramedics at an address in Charles Street, who alerted police at about 01:00 on Sunday before taking him to Victoria Hospital.

He has since been moved to Liverpool's Alder Hey Children's Hospital, where police said he "remains poorly".

The 32-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of possession of cocaine.

Two other men, aged 18 and 33, have also been arrested on suspicion of wounding in connection with the baby's injury.

A 34-year-old woman, who was arrested on the same charge, has been bailed pending further inquiries.
