Blackpool toddler with 'number of serious injuries' dies

A two-year-old girl has died after being found with a "number of serious injuries" in Blackpool.

Connor Gibson, 23, of Melrose Ave, Blackpool, is charged with murder and is due before magistrates on Monday.

Police said Kacey Hambleton was found "unresponsive" by emergency crews in Layton on Thursday.

She was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital then transferred to Liverpool's Alder Hey in a critical condition. She died on Saturday.

A 23-year-old woman, also from the town, was arrested on suspicion of murder has been bailed until 8 July.

Det Ch Insp Andy Gilbert of Lancashire Constabulary said it was a "terribly tragic incident".

"I am determined to find out exactly what has happened to her and how she has come to acquire injuries so serious that they have proven fatal," he said.
