Two people have appeared in court charged in connection with the murder of a man in Blackpool.

Frank Chivers, 49, was found with a head injury at his house in Walter Robinson Court, Layton, on 11 August.

Sean Conlon, 43, of no fixed address, is charged with Mr Chivers' murder and 28-year-old Carli Turner, of Camden Road, is accused of attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Both were remanded in custody by Blackpool magistrates.

Mr Conlon will appear at Preston Crown Court on Wednesday.

Two other women, aged 32 and 43, arrested on suspicion of perverting the cause of justice, have been released.

Mr Chivers' daughter Paige went missing in 2007 aged 15, and has never been found.

Police said there appeared to be no link between the two incidents.
