A woman has been charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice as part of a Blackpool murder investigation.

Frank Chivers, 49, was found unconscious at his house on Walter Robinson Court, Layton, Blackpool on 11 August. He later died in hospital.

Carli Turner, 28, of Camden Road, Blackpool was remanded to appear before the town's magistrates on Monday.

Two other women arrested on suspicion of the same offence have been released.

Police said a 43-year-old Blackpool man, arrested on suspicion of murder on Friday, remains in custody.

A post-mortem examination found Mr Chivers died as a result of a head injury.

He is the father of Paige Chivers, who went missing in 2007 aged 15 and has never been found.

Officers say there appears to be no link between the two incidents at present.
