Murder arrest over 'natural causes' death in Blackpool

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder over the death of a woman initially thought to have died of natural causes.

The body of 34-year-old Karen Marshall was found on Tuesday at her home in Grange Park, Blackpool.

A post mortem examination proved inconclusive and Lancashire Police were treating the death as not suspicious.

But after finding her stolen post office card has since been used, police have arrested a Blackpool man aged 18.

Two girls, aged 14 and 15 and both from Blackpool, were also arrested but were later released with no further action.

Police said they were trying to establish exactly how Ms Marshall died.

Det Supt Paul Withers said: "Karen lived alone and was a vulnerable lady.

"At some point either before or after her death her post office card was stolen and has since been used at ATM machines on Dickson Road and Westcliffe Drive.

"We're very keen to identify any witnesses that may have any knowledge of this card being used or who perhaps saw anybody frequenting the address over the past week to get in touch."
