Elderly cyclist injured in Leyland

A cyclist in his 80s has been badly hurt in a crash with a Citroen C1 car on a mini-roundabout in Lancashire.

Police said the man was cycling on Preston Road in Leyland towards the railway station when the collision happened at about 14:00 GMT.

The man was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital, where he is said to be in a serious condition.

The road was closed for two hours to allow investigators to do their work. Police are appealing for witnesses.
