Blackpool sea death: Teenage boy was local

A teenage boy who died after falling into the sea at Blackpool lived locally, police have confirmed.

Emergency crews were called by a friend of the boy who said he had fallen from the sea wall into the water near Gynn Square at about 16:20 BST on Friday.

Two lifeboats were launched and the crew pulled the boy from the water but were unable to revive him.

Police said they would released the name of the boy, who is thought to be aged 17, when relatives were informed.

Gynn Square is in the North Shore area of the resort.
