Calves rescued from Grimsargh barn fire

Ten calves have been rescued from a fire at a farm in Lancashire.

Firefighters were called to Elston Lane, Grimsargh, where a barn and a farmhouse had caught fire at about 02:00 GMT, a Lancashire Fire Service spokesperson said.

Water had to be pumped from a nearby river to fight the blaze which had spread to the ground and first floors of the farmhouse.

About 30 firefighters tackled the fire using an aerial platform ladder.
