A large fire in east Lancashire has been brought under control by firefighters.

Fire crews were called to the blaze at EasiStore4u on Burnley Road, Colne, at about 0340 BST.

They pumped water from Colne Water, a river which runs alongside the building, to fight the fire.

Burnley Road, which was closed from Primet Bridge to Phillips Lane, has now been reopened.

Five crews are expected to remain at the scene throughout the day and night to damp down the fire.

The cause of the fire is not yet clear but it is thought to be accidental, a spokesman said. An investigation is continuing.
