Skelmersdale pub staff threatened in robbery

Three men who threatened staff at a Lancashire pub with metal bars before stealing thousands of pounds from the safe are wanted by police.

Staff at The Tanner pub in Skelmersdale were locking up at 0410 GMT when they were confronted by three men.

The gang forced one of the three to open the safe before the men escaped with about £3,500 in cash.

Police said all the staff members were assaulted. They only suffered minor injuries but were left shaken.

The gang were all white, wearing tracksuits with the hoods up and all spoke with strong Liverpool accents.

Det Insp John Entwisle, of Lancashire police, said: "The members of staff who were in the pub at the time of the robbery have been left extremely shaken by what's happened, but thankfully nobody was seriously hurt.

"I would appeal to anybody who may have seen the three men or indeed anyone at all acting suspiciously either prior to the robbery or in the area after the robbery to come forward and contact police."
