Car passenger dies in Burnley wall smash

A man was killed when the car he was in veered off the road and smashed into a wall in Lancashire.

The crash, involving a black Fiat Punto, happened Eastern Avenue, Burnley, on Saturday night.

Police said passenger Christopher John Roberts, 26, from Burnley, suffered head, leg and chest injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 24-year-old driver suffered a broken collar bone and cuts and was taken to Royal Blackburn hospital.

The road was closed for four hours for investigations. Lancashire Police are appealing for witnesses.
