Appeal over fatal car crash in Hornby, Lancashire

Police are appealing for witnesses to a crash in a Lancashire village in which a 23-year-old man died.

Samuel Lishman from Ingleton, North Yorkshire, was driving a Ford Focus which collided with a Renault Trafic van on the A683 outside Hornby.

He was taken to Royal Lancaster Infirmary just after 0840 BST on Tuesday but died a short time later.

Lancashire police also want to speak to anyone who saw either car being driven before the crash.

Sgt Mick Young said: "A full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision is now under way.

"I would appeal to anybody who may have witnessed it to contact police and I would also like to speak with anybody who may have seen either of these cars being driven prior to the collision."

The driver of the van was uninjured.
