Firefighters tackling Preston blaze

More than 70 firefighters have tackled a fire at an old mill in Preston containing an Islamic education centre.

The fire broke out around 1630 GMT in the four storey building on Kent Street in the Deepdale area.

Ten fire engines plus two aerial ladder platforms were used at the scene while neighbouring roads were sealed off.

All the occupants were evacuated while the cause of the fire is not yet known, said a Lancashire Fire Service spokesman.

Sixty motorcycles were cleared from the ground floor while occupants had to evacuate the Iqra Education Centre on the first floor.

The building is also home to several business.
