A woman has been killed in a hit-and-run incident in Lancashire.

The woman, believed to be in her 70s, was starting to cross Revidge Road in Blackburn at about 1030 GMT when she was struck by a silver car.

The vehicle - thought to be a Mercedes saloon - drove up the road towards Lammock, Lancashire Police said.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them. They believe the car will have been badly damaged in the collision.

A wing mirror will be missing and the windscreen is likely to be damaged, a spokesman said.
