Two people have been found dead at a flat in Tunbridge Wells.

Their bodies were removed from the property in Grove Hill Road just before midnight on Wednesday after Kent Police were called to the scene.

The deaths are currently being treated as unexplained. Fire crews were also sent to the scene and checks have been carried out by gas engineers.

Residents of neighbouring properties were cleared from the area as a precaution.

'No threat'

A force spokesman said: "Police officers, South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service all attended the address and the two people were declared dead at the scene.

"The deaths are currently being treated as unexplained and post-mortem examinations will be carried out.

"The occupants of neighbouring addresses were asked to temporarily leave their homes as a precaution while SGN engineers attended to check the premises.

"Residents have now been permitted to return and there is no threat to public safety."

Officers are still trying to trace the relatives of those who died.
