A motorcyclist has been killed by a car driving the wrong way along a motorway.

The man in his 60s was riding a BMW motorcycle south on the M20 near junction 9 for Ashford when he was hit by a car driving north at 00:50 GMT.

The Ford Ka joined the coastbound carriageway of the motorway at junction 10 but was heading London-bound towards Maidstone, Kent Police said.

The motorcyclist died at the scene. The motorway was closed coastbound for several hours after the crash.
