Blaze engulfs Tunbridge Wells refuse and recycling centre

A large fire engulfed a refuse and recycling plant in Tunbridge Wells on Saturday.

Crews from three fire engines have been fighting the blaze at the centre in Dowding Way which started at about 08:00 BST. No-one has been injured.

Discarded carpets and mattresses covering an area of about 200 sq m were burning when crews arrived, Kent Fire and Rescue said.

Local residents were asked to close windows and doors as a precaution.
