A self-employed roofer reported missing from his home in Kent has been found in Europe six years after disappearing.

Matthew Green, then 26, said he was spending a weekend with friends in Mile End, east London on 8 April 2010 but never returned to Sittingbourne.

Kent Police said European authorities confirmed this month he had been located in Europe and it had closed its missing person inquiry.

It said it could not give information on where or how he was found.

A spokesman said confidentiality and data protection meant no information regarding the circumstances could be released.

Mr Green's parents made an appeal for him to get in touch the Christmas after he went missing and he was featured by the charity Missing People.
