Roy Blackman burglary death: Fifth man arrested

A fifth person has been arrested in connection with the death of a pensioner targeted during a "violent burglary" at his home in Kent.

Roy Blackman, 73, was found dead from multiple blunt force injuries by police called to his property in Headcorn Road, Biddenden, on 21 March.

A 37-year-old man from Staplehurst was arrested on suspicion of murder on Thursday, police said.

Four other men who were arrested have been released on bail.

A 49-year-old man who was arrested on 23 March has been bailed until 28 April.

Two other men, both 36-years-old, and a 32-year-old have been bailed until 1 July.

Officers believe the break-in took place sometime between 01:00 and 03:00 on the day Mr Blackman's body was found.

Detectives described him as "a vulnerable man".
