Ex-head Tim Watson jailed for indecent child images

A former primary school head teacher who downloaded hundreds of indecent images of children has been jailed for eight months.

Tim Watson, 55, who resigned from Cliffe Woods school in Rochester, Kent after his arrest last April, made more than 800 images, a court heard.

They included 17 at the highest level of seriousness, category A.

Watson admitted seven offences. The judge told him he had contributed to the "degradation" of real children.

Maidstone Crown Court heard computers seized from Watson's home revealed Google search terms including "teen sex video", "nude kids" and "nude pre-teen".

Prosecutor Bridget Todd said: "In his interview, he did express feelings of guilt, shame and embarrassment about his actions which he said was wrong."

Tom Stern, defending, said Watson, of Silvern Avenue, Nottingham, was a high-achieving teacher who had led Cliffe Woods from a satisfactory Ofsted rating to outstanding.

Judge Charles Macdonald told Watson: "All indecent images of children involve real children.

"All these images contribute to their degradation."
