An 18-year-old woman has been charged over the death of a cyclist on a charity bike ride.

Christian Smith, 38, was raising money for mental health charity Mind when he was in a collision with a car near Chestfield, Kent.

Bethany Mackie, of Beltinge Road, Herne Bay, is accused of causing death by dangerous driving, drink-driving and failing to stop after a collision.

She is due to appear before Canterbury magistrates on 24 November.

Police said a 19-year-old man bailed over the incident had been released without charge.

More than £82,000 has been raised on Mr Smith's JustGiving webpage since the crash which happened on 22 March.

The father-of-three, from Boughton Aulph, in Kent, had been cycling round Kent and Sussex.
