Three armed men subjected a couple to "extreme gratuitous violence" after bursting into their Kent home, police have said.

The men, who wore masks, forced their way into the house in Charing on 20 January, attacking the pair and taking jewellery and other property.

Both victims later needed hospital treatment for head injuries.

Appealing for information, police urged anyone who saw anything suspicious in the days before the raid to call them.

Detectives said the couple had agreed to allow Kent Police to release their pictures in an effort to help find the raiders.

Items stolen in the raid included a Rolex Oyster wristwatch, a diamond and Burma ruby half eternity ring, and several Krugerrand, which are South African gold coins.
