Managers at an office block in Kent have installed a slide to take workers from floor to floor in three seconds.

The 20ft (6m) long stainless steel tube was added to create a sense of fun for staff at the Workshop offices in Folkestone.

The slide is fitted with camera that takes pictures of people whizzing down from the fifth to the fourth floor.

The five-storey digital hub, which houses a range of fledgling businesses, opened on 2 September.

Office manager James Avery, 30, said: "Everyone has a go when they come in, but people have become accustomed to it now.

"No-one looks up, it's just the norm."

He said staff had noticed the slide being used for other purposes, including sending down post, and the odd bag of sugar.

He added: "We had thought about other ideas like installing a pole, which might have been cheaper, but this is more fun."
