A former prison officer has been jailed for supplying cannabis to inmates at a prison in Kent.

Daniel McKenzie, 28, of Cheriton Road, Folkestone, was sentenced to five years and four months after admitting four charges at Canterbury Crown Court.

Kent Police said he was suspended from duty after he was seen to enter the cell of two prisoners on 28 February.

Following an investigation and during a police interview, he admitted supplying the two inmates with cannabis.

McKenzie pleaded guilty to two charges of supplying cocaine, possessing cocaine with intent to supply, and supplying cannabis resin.

He resigned from his post as a prison officer at HMP Elmley in April.
