Folkestone man loses sight after pub fight

A man who was punched in the face during an argument in a pub in Kent has permanently lost the sight in one eye, police said.

The 54-year-old man was hit four of five times in his left eye during the fight at the Royal George in Beach Street, Folkestone.

He went home with severe swelling but later needed hospital treatment for a fractured eye socket and nerve damage.

A 48-year-old man from Folkestone has been arrested and released on bail.

The man in being investigated on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

Police have appealed to anyone with information about the incident, on 23 November at 22:45 GMT, to come forward.
