Sittingbourne man injured in fatal crash dies

A man who was seriously injured in a head-on crash in Kent that killed a mother-of-one has died in hospital.

Claire Mackinnon, of Minster on the Isle of Sheppey, was fatally injured when her Ford Escort and a Ford Sierra collided in Bobbing on Wednesday.

The driver of the Sierra, an 18-year-old man from Sittingbourne, died at a hospital in Romford, Essex, on Monday.

Kent Police said they would not be releasing his name until a post-mortem examination had been carried out.

Ms Mackinnon was described as "a fantastic mum, daughter, sister and friend".

She leaves a three-year-old son called Jack and partner Joe Walder.

Three other men in the Sierra were taken to hospital but their injuries were not life-threatening, police said.

The force has appealed for anyone with information about the crash to contact officers.
