Tunbridge Wells Lib Dem takes Tory council seat

A Liberal Democrat candidate has won a seat previously held by a Tory in a by-election for a Kent council.

Claire Brown took one of two seats for the Pembury Ward on Tunbridge Wells Borough Council in a 13.8% swing. The UKIP candidate came third.

Ms Brown won 578 votes, Conservative Robert William 460 and UKIP candidate Victor Charles 297.

The result gives the Conservatives 41 seats on the council and the Lib Dems seven. The last poll was on 6 May 2010.
