Fire damages boat in Kent marina
A houseboat was seriously damaged when a fire broke out at a Kent marina.
Up to 40 firefighters tackled the blaze at the Port of Werburgh residential marina in Vicarage Lane, Hoo, at 2030 GMT on Wednesday.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service said the upper deck of the 90ft (27m) Last Mariner, was destroyed by the fire.
No one was on board the boat and there were no reports of injuries. The fire was out by 0300 GMT but fire crews remain dampening down at the scene.
Fire investigators and Kent Police are investigating the cause of the fire.
Strood watch manager Martin Simmonds said: "Fortunately, the tide was coming in so we had an immediate supply of water.
"This was a really unusual and difficult job.
"Thanks to some aggressive fire fighting and the sheer determination of the fire crews, we managed to prevent the blaze from spreading."
