Cannabis worth £3m seized at Port of Ramsgate in Kent

A tonne of cannabis resin with an estimated street value of £3m has been seized by investigators at a Kent port.

The UK Border Agency uncovered the drugs when they stopped an Irish-registered lorry carrying mushroom compost at the Port of Ramsgate.

The lorry had arrived at the port on a ferry from Ostend in Belgium at 1445 GMT on Thursday.

A 25-year-old man was arrested and is being questioned in custody by officers, the agency said.
