Tributes follow death of pregnant Kent schoolgirl

Tributes have been paid following the death of a pregnant schoolgirl and her baby in north Kent.

Leah La Roche, 15, and her baby Tia died at Medway Maritime Hospital, Gillingham on Thursday. It is believed she had suffered a cardiac arrest.

Kent Police said the post-mortem tests were not yet known but they were not treating the death as suspicious.

Friends have left messages on Facebook. Her sister Verity has also set up a page on the website gonetoosoon.

'Cruel loss'

She was a pupil at Chatham Grammar School for Girls.

In a statement on the website, Verity said: "Such a cruel loss of Leah and her beautiful baby Tia, they never got to share life together with us but we all know they are together now watching over us all and Leah is being the wonderful mum we all knew she was going to be.

"Words can't describe the pain of losing them.

"We will miss her incredibly and never, ever forget her and her beautiful ways."

A spokeswoman for Medway Maritime Hospital said Leah's family had asked them not to disclose any details of her death.
