A driver has been pronounced dead at the scene of an accident involving two lorries on a motorway in Kent.

The lorries collided just before 0900 GMT on the Surrey-bound carriageway of the M26, two miles before the junction with the M25 near Sevenoaks.

The lorry driver was pronounced dead by South East Coast Ambulance Service paramedics. Police and the fire service also attended the accident.

Kent Police said both carriageways of the M26 were closed, causing tailbacks.

The Kent-bound carriageway was reopened at about 0945 GMT but the slip road on to the M26 from the M20 remained closed while police carried out an investigation.

Surrey-bound traffic was diverted via the M20.
