Teenager killed in road crash near Canterbury

A 17-year-old boy has been killed in a car crash in east Kent.

Kent Police said the boy died at the scene of the accident on Broadway, Petham, near Canterbury, at about 0730 BST.

No-one else was in the car and no other vehicles were involved, according to officers.

The road has been closed while police investigate in the incident. Officers have appealed for any witnesses to contact them.

A spokeswoman for Kent Police said: "The 17 year old driver, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was travelling towards the junction with The Street when the car left the carriageway and struck a tree.

"The driver died at the scene."
