Kent solicitor pleads guilty to fraud offences

A Kent solicitor has pleaded guilty to 14 fraud-related offences amid claims he benefited by nearly £250,000.

Derek Speed, 58, of Canterbury, Kent, denied three counts of money-laundering, and one of fraud by abuse of position.

He admitted 10 other counts of fraud by abuse of position, three counts of possession of articles for use in fraud and having a fake identity document.

He is due to be sentenced on 22 October at Maidstone Crown Court.

The four charges denied by Speed will lie on file.

At the time of the offences, he was practising as a solicitor in Kent.
