CCTV images have been released of a man police want to trace in connection with an armed robbery at a petrol station in Kent.

The offender, thought to be armed with a hammer, stole cash and cigarettes from a Texaco garage in Walderslade Road, Chatham, on 8 September.

Staff at the petrol station were threatened but no-one was injured.

Kent Police said the man was wearing a black hooded top, grey tracksuit bottoms and a white helmet.

Det Insp Ann Lisseman said: "We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and saw a man entering the garage forecourt area.

"The man threatened staff and the incident was over very quickly.

"We believe that someone knows who carried out this offence and would urge them to come forward to help us with our inquiries."
