New £70,000 play area in Swanley is opened

Children in west Kent will have a new place to play when a £70,000 playground is officially opened on Tuesday.

New features at Cherry Avenue play area in Swanley include climbing poles, a large swing and new earth mounds.

The project is the result of a consultation with residents who were asked what they would like to see in the refurbished area.

The equipment was paid for by Sevenoaks District Council, West Kent Housing Association and Swanley Town Council.

Councillor Avril Hunter said: "These new facilities will create a much more pleasant environment for the children of Swanley to play in, particularly as they have been involved in choosing them.

"It's exciting that young people have decided to make these improvements for themselves and the rest of their community."
