A man has been charged after a series of suspected gunpoint carjackings.

Leon Ndenu, 23, has been charged with four counts each of robbery and attempted robbery, two counts of assault with intent to rob and possessing a firearm in a public place.

Mr Ndenu, of no fixed address, was remanded custody and is due to appear at Hull Magistrates Court on Monday, Humberside Police said.

Police said they were looking for a second suspect.

The charges come after four reports of aggravated vehicle thefts, including a postal van, by two men at several locations in East Yorkshire.

In one incident, a motorist ordered out of his car apparently at gunpoint was joined by a passing bin lorry crew in disarming a man and pinning him to the ground.
